Chiropractic Techniques

Chiropractic techniques Singapore — at Family Health Chiropractic Clinic, we use a range of modern, gentle, and effective approaches tailored to each patient’s specific condition, age, and comfort level. We believe no two patients are alike, and so no two treatment approaches should be either. Our chiropractors select the most appropriate chiropractic techniques Singapore patients need after a thorough individual assessment.

Our Chiropractic Techniques

1. Koren Specific Technique

The is the predominant and preferred technique used in our clinic due to its effectiveness and gentleness and well liked by pediatric, adult and geriatric patients alike. The ARTHROSTIM instrument is a gentle instrument used alongside this technique and applied directly to the spinal jointed. It is very gently and highly effective. This technique does not include any manipulation.

2. Diversified Technique

The Diversified Technique is the most widely used chiropractic adjustment method worldwide. It involves a precise, hands-on thrust applied to a specific spinal segment to restore proper joint alignment and mobility. Despite the reputation of chiropractic for loud “pops”, the sound is simply gas being released from the joint — not bones cracking. The technique is highly effective and most patients find it comfortable and relieving.

3. Activator Method

The Activator Method uses a small, hand-held instrument called an Activator Adjusting Instrument to deliver a controlled, low-force impulse to specific spinal segments or joints. This technique is particularly suited to patients who prefer a gentler approach, including children, elderly patients, those with osteoporosis, and patients who are anxious about manual adjustments. The Activator is fast, precise, and produces no audible sound.

4. Thompson Drop Technique

The Thompson Technique uses a specialised drop table that has sections which gently drop away as an adjustment is made. This allows a lighter thrust to be used while still effectively moving the spinal segment. The dropping of the table sections assists the adjustment, reducing the force required and making it a very comfortable experience for the patient.

5. Webster Technique (Pregnancy)

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and adjustment designed for pregnant women. Both our chiropractors are certified in this technique, which focuses on reducing tension in the pelvis and sacrum to support optimal fetal positioning and a more comfortable pregnancy. It is commonly sought by mothers whose babies are in a breech or posterior position. Learn more on our pregnancy chiropractic care page.

6. Posture Exercises

In addition to spinal adjustments, we also offer Posture Rehab exercises, conducted personally by Dr Kelvin Ng, our clinic director.

How We Choose the Right Chiropractic Technique for You

After your initial assessment, your chiropractor will explain which technique or combination of techniques is most appropriate for your condition. Factors considered include:

  • The nature and severity of your condition
  • Your age and general health status
  • Whether you have any contraindications (e.g., osteoporosis, recent surgery)
  • Your personal comfort and preference
  • The specific spinal segments and joints involved

We never use a one-size-fits-all approach. If at any point during treatment you are uncomfortable with the technique being used, please let your chiropractor know — we are always happy to adapt.
